All Wired Up: Windsor’s 1st Photovoltaic System under the microFIT program connected to the grid

scn energy America has launched and commissioned Windsor’s first photovoltaic system connected to the grid as part of Ontario’s microFIT program. The solar-powered system produces electricity which is sold back to the grid, earning the owner up to $ 24 a day.

“scn energy’s five kilowatt system is EnWin’s first photovoltaic generator connection under the Ontario Green Energy Act,” says Jim Brown, Infrastructure Director at EnWin Utilities, Windsor’s local distribution power company.

“It’s the first grid-connected system in Windsor, but many more are going to follow,” predicts Klaus Dohring, scn energy America’s General Manager.

“The FIT and microFIT program offer very attractive rates for residential and commercial customers and scn energy America will develop, design and install complete photovoltaic systems of all sizes,” says Dohring.

The fully-operational pilot system consists of 27 scn-solarpanels and is installed on a steel car port structure in the parking lot of the Renewable Energy Technology Center at 1680 Kildare Rd. in Windsor. scn energy’s photovoltaic experts closely monitor the system’s performance to assure their clients are earning as much as possible from their photovoltaic installations.
